Reminder...

As it was Anniversary Day on Monday and First Aid yesterday, your homework this week is pretty simple :) Have a look through the Portobello photos and leave a comment with the following: (should only be a few sentences!)
- something new you learned at the aquarium, marine animal you enjoyed learning more about - what was it?
- I would also like you to tell me what sea creature you are choosing to do your report on.

I know that some people are also going to be using the next couple of nights to catch up on some writing for their Sea Creature Writing Unit - these are going so well, I'm impressed Room 9!!

Last reminder as well to get your camp notices in too please!! Thank you to those who already have :)

Hi. =D
At the aquarium I learnt how to tell what food a squid has eaten, because by opening its stomach, and looking at the colour of the remains, you can tell what the squid has eaten.
I have decided to do my report on the sea star, as this is my favourite rocky shore animal =D
Thanks, see you at school =D

The most interesting thing i would have learnt at the aquarium would have been that Spottys (fish) are all born female! My favorate sea creature would be the camoflage crab, and this is what I am doing my report on.

Hello! What I found really interesting at the aquarium was how the spiny sea star got a cockle into its body - I hope I don't throw up my own stomach! For my sea-creature report I am doing the gulper Eel - it was in the submarine as a deep sea creature. Thanks!

At the aquarium I enjoyed dissecting the squid and I found out that a lot of sea creatures have tongues called radulas. I am doing my report on Hermit Crabs.

At the Aquarium on Friday I really enjoyed learning about the many sea creatures, and how it would take 10 kilograms of phytoplankton to make 10 grams of tuna in your everyday sandwich. I especially liked looking at the half crab “scoop” up the zoo plankton with it’s inner web arms under the microscope, it was this that made me choose the half crab for my sea creature report this term.

Hi
The aquarium was awesome! i LOVED dissecting the squids as they were very interesting... and i got one to myself! Another interesting thing about my squid i had was that it was an immature male cannibal squid. (diagnosed by a professional,(me)) I love dissecting things so this was a great opportunity. I am doing my project on the COLOSSAL SQUID! I liked it's eyes! i wouldn't want to go swimming and find one of those swimming alongside me!

At the aquarium I learnt that phytoplankton make around 70% of the worlds oxygen. My favourite animal I learnt about was the cancer crab and how it eats a cockle. I am doing my project on the dolphin.

i learnt some really interesting facts at the aquarium like:
*crabs eat with nets! i never knew that and was really interested when i found out. they have little nets behind their head and they use them to scoop their food out of the water.
*sharks always have another set of teeth ready for if their teeth wear out! if they use that spare set, another set will form in their place.
*sharks skin is covered in tiny teeth! that's why their skin is so tough.
*spotties, which are a type of fish are all born as females but if the need arises for a male, they can change into a male and they will remain male for the rest of their lives.
I also liked dissecting the squid and finding out information about how they live and how they work.
i have decided to do my sea creature report on the stingray because i would like to find out more about them and i find them very interesting =D

Hey Ya!:)
Umm, well... I learnt all about the squids layout inside them :S. And how to identify what that squid has had to eat by looking @ the colour of the contents of their stomach. Also I learnt all about how Spotties and how they are born female but when a male is needed they change themselves into males =D Anyways, I am doing my sea creature report about Narwhals (whales with a AWESOME horn) because they look REALLY awesome :)

Hello Miss Roney,
At the aquarium I learnt that spottys are all born female and if needed can change to be a male. On the male the black spot is less defined, compared to the females.
I am planning on doing my sea creature report on sea horses, because they are awesome.
Love Lola :)

hey,
At the Aquarium we learnt how to disect a squid. We pulled apart it's stomach and found out what it had been eating. Unfortunately my squid hadn't been eating anything so it's stomach was empty :(

I've decided to do my report on a Great White Shark :D

I learnt that lots of animals have straw like noses that help them eat food from small spaces. Such as the seahorse and the spottys fish. Also the fact that all spotty fish are born females and then (if they want) turn into males. Im doing my report on the dog fish (shark). =D - Maias smiley face. - By Nicola
